Ghibli-Style Profile Picture Trend
: Generative AI Goes Mainstream

Recently, the popularity of "Ghibli-style profile pictures" on social media has significantly boosted interest in AI-generated image technology, both domestically and internationally.

Driven by this trend, ChatGPT's daily active users in Korea have surpassed 1.2 million for the first time, an important milestone expected to fuel further expansion of ChatGPT’s paid services. Generative AI is no longer limited to images but is also increasingly transforming video production, signaling a major shift in content creation.

In particular, AI video-generation startup Runway has been gaining attention with its latest model, Gen-4, which excels in maintaining scene consistency while expressing distinctive visual styles. Together with OpenAI’s Sora, Runway’s Gen-4 is leading innovation in the AI video-generation market.

As AI technology seamlessly integrates into content creation, it is becoming increasingly accessible, extending beyond professional users and deeply embedding itself into everyday life. This shift underscores the growing need for AI-driven digital transformation (DX) across all industries.

AI Emerges as the Core of Global Industry

Recently, the AI industry has experienced unprecedented growth, attracting significant attention from global enterprises.

OpenAI, a leading force in generative AI technology, has secured approximately $40 billion (around 59 trillion KRW) in funding from investors like SoftBank and Microsoft, reaching a valuation of roughly 443 trillion KRW. This represents the largest investment ever in innovative technologies, highlighting AI’s transition from a passing trend to a core component of global industry.

Meanwhile, Elon Musk’s xAI has intensified competition by acquiring social media platform X (formerly Twitter) and absorbing the AI video-generation startup Hotshot, accelerating the integration of content, platforms, and AI technologies.

As AI increasingly becomes central to business operations, it is essential for companies to develop customized digital transformation (DX) solutions. Going beyond mere adoption of technology, establishing practical, AI-driven DX strategies is becoming critical to maintaining competitive advantage in today’s evolving marketplace.

Spacebank provides tailored AI DX solutions designed specifically to meet the real-world operational needs of B2B clients across diverse industries.
